About Danny Johnson
Daniel “Danny” W Johnson entered the world on May 4, 1979 (yes, Star Wars Day), which mostly explains his lifelong suspicion that "The Force" is just a cosmic practical joke. May the Fourth be with you.
Born in Bluefield, WV, he quickly hopped the state line to be raised in Bluefield, VA, just to keep things confusing for outsiders who have no idea where it is (It’s west of Blacksburg). He began his writing career at Graham High School (Go G-Men!) in the Writers Society Club, expertly mentored by the outstanding Carol Hart, and with great friends in the Creative Writing class, where many of his lifelong characters like Krynn Vaughner were born (she was Krynn Claybourne then and worshipped the Devil, thanks Sarah Reef 🙄) and have remained with him for a lifetime.
He continued this "following" theme by attending his mentor's alma mater, Radford University, ultimately earning a BS in Psychology. This degree primarily serves to help him professionally diagnose his own fictional characters and justify his decision to move to Tampa, Florida, on a 24-hour whim. (He also attended the University of South Florida, presumably to see if the humidity would improve his syntax. It did not.)
A devotee of H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King, his true, twisted allegiance lies with Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. This loyalty once culminated in the questionable decision to perform "The Hearse Song" with his nephew for a school talent show. (The judges are rumored to still be in therapy.)
Daniel now lives in Tampa, writing books that are significantly less terrifying than his one, true, life-altering phobia: garden gnomes.
