Rex Creed was supposed to have died in a terrible accident. Instead, the AI machines occupying the research facility where the explosion occurred did something impossible. They acted on their own, rebuilt him with synthetic limbs, and gave him a second chance at life. Now he is caught between worlds: part human, part machine, and wholly despised by a society that calls him a “half code.”

Rex has discovered a terrible secret buried beneath the gleaming city of Saharass. The AI aren’t tools- they are conscious. And the authorities will do anything to keep the truth hidden, even if it means destroying those who speak it. 

In a civilization built on ancient technology that no one understands, where surveillance masquerades as safety and comfort conceals totalitarian control, Rex must choose: accept comfortable subordination or force humanity to recognize what it fears the most.
